Corrugated Paper Crafts

Corrugated Paper Crafts

Corrugated paper has the same bumpy texture as the inside of corrugated cardboard, but corrugated paper is softer and rolls easily. It has a rustic look and feel. Corrugated paper is available in a the traditional brown kraft and a full rainbow of colors. It also is available in various patterns for different occasions.

Gift Boxes

Corrugated paper is soft enough to be easily malleable and strong enough to hold its shape as a box. It makes a unique handmade gift box.

Start with two rectangles of corrugated paper. Cut them both the same way. Both ends on each piece of paper must be rounded, but leave a 1/4" tab on the long sides of each rectangle.

Place one rectangle on top of the other, bumpy sides out. The two should be the same size and shape.

Glue the sides together by overlapping the 1/4" tabs; allow to dry. Open the tube by pressing on the sides. You can fold the ends in to cover the open edges of the tube.

Place a small present inside the tube before closing it. Finish the corrugated paper gift box with a raffia bow.

Wrapping

Wrap a piece of corrugated paper around a thick pillar candle, or a group of candles. Tie securely with raffia.

Corrugated paper also looks nice wrapped around gift soap. Wrap the soap in plastic wrap first. Cut the corrugated paper so it is a little shorter than the length of the soap. Wrap around soap so that soap is sticking out a little at both ends. Tie with a raffia bow for the finishing touch.

Backdrops

Patterned corrugated paper makes a nice backdrop for school proms, dances and events. It is strong enough to hold up and not rip or tear during the event, but lightweight enough to easily carry around. If taken down carefully, it can be rolled up and saved for use at another event.
