Food For A Barbie Party

Pink is the frosting color of choice for a Barbie party.

Whether it is for a little girl's birthday or a bridal shower, the Barbie theme is pleasing to fans of all ages. From the invitations to the decorations, feature the iconic fashion doll, the color pink and feminine touches in all of your party elements -- including the food. Create a party menu that is made up entirely of Barbie-themed foods or combine a couple of Barbie food ideas with one or two traditional party dishes. Does this Spark an idea?

Barbie Cake

Make Barbie the center of attention -- and the center of the cake with this creative recipe. Mix enough of your favorite cake batter recipe to fill two 9-inch round and one dome-shaped cake pan. When the cakes are cool, fill and stack the round cakes as you would an ordinary layer cake. Place the dome-shaped cake on top of the round layers. Frost the cake with the color of frosting you desire. Insert a Barbie doll, up to her waist, into the middle of the dome cake. Frost a matching bodice onto Barbie. Use a piping bag, colored frosting and candy accessories to decorate Barbie's dress.

Cookie Cutters

Use cookie cutters to shape cookies, sandwiches, marshmallow cereal treats or brownies into shapes associated with Barbie. Use heart, flower and star shapes to represent Barbie. Other cookie cutter shapes inspired by Barbie movies include a mermaid ("Barbie Mermaidia"), diamond ("Barbie and the Diamond Castle") or butterfly ("Barbie Fairytopia"). Use pink frosting to top the sweet items and place the cookie-cutter sandwiches on pink doilies.

Barbie Platter

Create an edible display that spells out the name Barbie. Wrap a large cutting board or sturdy piece of cardboard with Barbie-themed wrapping paper. Wrap a layer of clear cellophane over the gift paper. Arrange pink-frosted, mini cupcakes to spell out the name Barbie. Other food items that can be arranged in this manner include donut holes, mini muffins or cocktail-style finger foods such as pigs in a blanket or pizza rolls.

Barbie Snack Mix

Create your own Barbie snack mix for guests to enjoy at the party or use it to fill take-home goody bags. In a large bowl, combine unsweetened oats cereal with mini pink marshmallows, thin pretzel sticks, dried cranberries and Barbie fruit snacks. Toss in a handful of pink sprinkles or sugar crystals to add a touch of Barbie sparkle. Adjust the ingredients according to desired level of sweetness.

Pink Drinks

What better accompaniment to Barbie foods than pink drinks? Serve pink lemonade or mix cherry sherbet and ginger ale to make a pink, fizzy Barbie punch. Serve drinks in champagne flutes or martini glasses with pink cocktail umbrellas. Other pink drink suggestions include strawberry fruit juice, cherry smoothies and strawberry milk.
