Barbie Birthday Parties For 5yearolds

Little girls love Barbie and enjoy Barbie-themed parties.

The Barbie doll has been charming little girls since her debut in 1959. Barbie is an idealistic symbol of fashion and glamor. The Barbie franchise has grown to include other doll friends, including Ken, plus a host of clothes, furniture, cars and accessories. Barbie is even the star of full-length movies. Barbie is loved by both adults and children, which makes her a popular birthday party theme. Does this Spark an idea?

Barbie Princess Birthday Parties

Little girls enjoy Barbie and princesses. The two themes can be combined to create a birthday party. Use bright and light pink crepe-paper streamers and balloons to decorate the party venue. Use white linen tablecloths and sterling silver serving wear to add class and shine to the table. Serve tea in china cups (purchased at thrift stores) and give each little girl a tiara with a Barbie logo hot-glued to the front.

Dress a Barbie doll as a princess and use her as a centerpiece for the table, along with pink feather boas. Create a Barbie princess cake where a Barbie doll is used as a part of the design and the cake forms the doll's dress. Invite guests to watch a Barbie princess-themed movie, such as "Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses," "Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper" or "Barbie and the Diamond Castle."

Barbie Fairy Birthday Parties

Include fairy themes in a Barbie party. Use the movies "Barbie Presents Thumbelina," "Barbie in a Fairy Secret," "Barbie Fairytopia: Magic of the Rainbow" or "Barbie Mariposa and Her Butterfly Friends" as inspiration. Have the dolls from these various movies scattered around the party venue for decoration. Buy fairy wings (available at dollar and craft stores) for each guest so she can fly along with the fairies.

Use silk flowers liberally around the party venue as decoration. Create a sheet cake with small fairy figures on top and surround the cake with silk flowers and some metallic confetti that can double as fairy dust. Use bright-colored streamers and balloons, in rainbow colors, around the room for a festive look.

Barbie Beach & Mermaid Birthday Parties

Since Barbie's 1959 debut in a bathing suit, she has had a love affair with the beach. Host a beach party for some summertime fun. Use images of Barbie and friends in bathing gear to invite guests to the party. Allow guests to create sand castles, fit for Barbie. Serve barbecue with typical side dishes.

Use the movies "Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia" or "Barbie in A Mermaid Tale" as inspirations for a mermaid party at a local pool. Set up Barbie-licensed swimming pools as centerpieces at the party venue. Use blue and green balloons and streamers to create an underwater look and use images of Barbie in a mermaid costume to decorate the walls.

Other Barbie Birthday Party Ideas

A general Barbie-themed party should be decorated in bright pink and black. Include feminine touches with just bit of diva. Hot pink and black feather boas will incorporate Barbie colors into the party decor. Add a touch of Paris to the theme by using the images from "Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale."

If the birthday girl is into action and adventure, consider using the theme of "Barbie and the Three Musketeers." This party idea would be ideal for a triplet girl's party or a party celebrating the birthdays of three close friends.

Or you can incorporate a ballerina theme into a Barbie birthday party and watch the movie "Barbie in The Nutcracker" as inspiration.
