Disney World Resorts That Can Be Reached By Boat

There is nothing like a boat ride to the Walt Disney World Resort parks.

Sure, visitors can save a few bucks by booking rooms "outside the park" when they are visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. But staying inside the park comes with its distinct advantages, including early admission to the theme parks and complimentary transportation throughout the parks. One of the loveliest and most memorable ways to travel to the theme parks is by boat, and these Disney resort hotels provide guests with that perk.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

The Grand Floridian is located on Seven Seas Lagoon.

This deluxe Disney resort, which features its own beach, marina, boat rentals, suites and character meals, is situated in a prime spot on Disney's Seven Seas Lagoon. The Grand Floridian's location on the lagoon makes it easy to take a boat to the Magic Kingdom. The Grand Floridian is also on the monorail line, so it's easy to hop the monorail to both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Disney's Polynesian Resort

The Polynesian Resort is also on the monorail line.

This long-time resort, decked out in a South Pacific décor, has its own character breakfast, a volcano pool, and its well-known luau dinner shows each night. The Polynesian is also well-located. Like the Grand Floridian, you can catch a boat anytime from the resort directly to the Magic Kingdom. The Polynesian is also on the monorail line, with easy commuting to Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Disney's Contemporary Resort

Contemporary Resort guests have great views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Probably the best known of the Disney resorts, the Contemporary Resort features boat rentals, a marina, water skiing, wake-boarding, and a freeform pool with a water slide. From the Contemporary, you get premium views of the evening Magic Kingdom fireworks celebrations and Disney's nightly Electrical Water Pageant. In addition, because the Contemporary is located on the Seven Seas Lagoon, you can take a quick boat ride to the Magic Kingdom and to the Grand Floridian Resort. Its central location on the monorail loop also means easy rides to both Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Disney's Wilderness Lodge

The Wilderness Lodge is just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom.

The deluxe Wilderness Lodge includes a spa, health club, suites, a sandy beach with boat rentals, and a huge pool with waterfalls and a water slide. It's also located on Bay Lake, which provides you with an easy boat ride to the Magic Kingdom and to the neighboring Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, where there are dinner shows. The more down-to-earth Fort Wilderness also provides campers and guests with a quick boat ride to the Magic Kingdom.

Disney's Boardwalk Inn Resort

The Boardwalk is steps away from Epcot.

This beautiful lakeside resort features restaurants, shops and nightlife along the boardwalk itself. Activities at the Boardwalk include bike riding, surrey rides and lots of entertainers who position themselves on the boardwalk. There's also a carnival theme pool, complete with a 200-foot water slide. The location of the Boardwalk Inn is ideal, because it's a five-minute walk from Epcot (and its popular Illuminations show), or you can take a boat ride to Epcot. In addition, Disney's Hollywood Studios is reachable by boat from the Boardwalk.
