Brunch Food For A Baby Shower

Food is an all-important element of a baby shower brunch.

A baby shower brunch typically begins around 10:30 or 11 a.m. and is a great alternative to a mid-afternoon shower. If your guests have skipped breakfast, they will be hungry, so plan to serve a variety of foods, some savory and some sweet. Does this Spark an idea?

Drinks

Set up a drink station with coffee, tea and punch.

Make room for a drink station. Have a coffee maker out of sight, and fill two separate carafes with regular and decaffeinated coffee. Place the carafes at your drink station, along with an assortment of flavored creamers. Also make sure you have a separate carafe with hot water for tea, along with plenty of tea selections.

In addition, set out a few pitchers of ice water and iced tea or lemonade. Even though it's mid-morning, you can't go wrong with a bowl of punch. If it's a boy, try using one part ginger ale or lemon-lime soda with one part blue fruit punch, topped with vanilla ice cream. For a special touch, add a few rubber duckies. If it's a girl, consider a ginger ale or lemon-lime soda base with pineapple juice, topped with raspberry sherbet.

Munchies

Individual yogurt parfaits are cute for a baby shower.

Fresh fruit is good choice for brunches, with selections like grapes, melons and strawberries. Individual parfaits are also a nice touch. Fill small plastic cups halfway with strawberry or plain yogurt, and top with berries, almonds or walnuts and dark chocolate chips. Or serve fruit on skewers. Vegetables served with a ranch or dill dip are always a hit, no matter what time of day it is.

Hot Treats

Serve miniature quiches, available in the frozen section of the grocery store. You can also bake a large version and serve individual slices. Pigs in a blanket are simple and delicious. Also consider egg strata or sauteed apples.

Fantastic Pastries

Serve a variety of pastries.

Serve a variety of pastries like coffee cake, bagels, muffins and danish. Scones are also a good choice and can be savory or sweet. Instead of a large cake, decorate individual muffins and serve them on a special table surrounded by cute decorations like chocolate candy-filled baby bottles and a diaper cake.
