Fun Bowling Games For Kids

Kids' plastic bowling set

Forget the at-home bowling sets with plastic pins and a plastic ball. With the advent of computer and video games, kids can bowl whenever they want without hassle. Bowling games may not replicate the exact feeling of being in a bowling alley, but some video games come close and may be even more fun for kids than real-life bowling.

KOL Fun Lanes

Fun Lanes is a part of AOL's kid's area, KOL. This is a free Internet bowling game that works on any type of computer. Kids choose whether they will play with a mouse or keyboard. The game offers multiple difficulty levels, so children of many ages will find the game entertaining, yet challenging. You also choose if you want bumpers placed in the gutters. The game is fairly simple to play, for you are given a ball and choose where to place it. Click to choose how much power you want to apply to the throw, the ball's direction and the ball's spin. The game is very basic, which makes it a perfect starter game for young kids.

Monsters, Inc. Bowling For Screams

Bowling For Screams is a computer game that features the characters popularized by the animated film "Monsters, Inc." Kids and adults who are fans of this movie will enjoy playing this wacky, challenging bowling game, either alone or with a friend. There are obstacles that make bowling more challenging and surprise additions-such as power-ups in the form of special balls-that add to your point total. This game is not scored solely based on the number of pins you knock down, but also on how many power-ups you acquire and whether you hit the designated pin. All of these actions add to your score, which determines whether you may move on to the next, more difficult, level. As of July 2010, Amazon.com sells this game for $33.99.

Wii Sports

The Nintendo Wii has released a game that allows you the option of playing five different sports: golf, tennis, boxing, baseball or bowling. This game is packaged with the Nintendo Wii System and is a very popular Wii game for all ages. If you buy the game without the system, it retails for $49 according to Amazon.com as of July 2010. Players are represented by their Mii character and merely use a Wii remote to swing their arm just like they would when throwing a real bowling ball. You can be a bit more advanced by curving your ball, but the game is relatively simple. The bowling game is easy to learn and is interactive fun for the whole family.
