Bridal Shower Handmade Favor Ideas

The party favors should be something that the guests, bridesmaids and bride can put to good use.

Bridal showers are an important part of the wedding process for the bride and her bridesmaids. The maid of honor is usually in charge of planning and throwing the bridal shower, and it can be very elegant and formal, or casual with a fun theme. Either way, you must hand out favors to thank guests for coming; and homemade favors are often cherished more than any other kind. Does this Spark an idea?

Personalized Music

Create a music CD for each guest, specific to her taste in music. Or, make the CDs all the same based on a theme, such as best love songs or best songs for girlfriend road trips. Burning CDs is simple and quick, so you will have a personalized gift that guests can download onto their own computers and listen to again and again, and think of you and your special day. Decorate the CDs with handmade labels. For an added touch, make your own liner notes and explain why each song was chosen. Buy blank CDs and cases at any electronics or craft store.

Candles

Purchase candles from a craft store to decorate for your guests. You'll find the options limitless, particularly if you have a party theme, such as tropical, or a color scheme. Or, make your own candles with a candle-making kit, available at craft stores, and add different aromatic oils for energy or relaxation. Add embellishments such as seashells, glitter, scripted poems or quotes. Design it around the bride and groom, including a personalized note that has their names equaling love or a saying such as "love is an eternal flame." Wrap the candles in ribbon or lace to further complement the wedding's color scheme or theme.

Sweet Treats

Delicious food and sweets are a part of every bridal shower, and the sky is the limit when it comes to what you can whip up. For sweets, pour melted chocolate into molds of different shapes like hearts, wedding bells, or a little bride and groom. Wrap the chocolate in small bags that echo the wedding's color scheme, or in decorative boxes with a personalized note. Get your fellow bridesmaids together for an afternoon of baking cookies or cupcakes; they can be personalized in many different ways with colors and shapes. For cookies, make large squares and decorate carefully with a storyline, providing one to each guest. For example, incorporate each guest into the bride's life through the sweets, like a picture of the bride and groom getting introduced through a bridesmaid. Decorate little boxes and fill them with heart-shaped mints, candies or the bride's favorite sweet treats.

Picture Frames

Fill frames with pictures of the guests with the bride. Personalize each frame using a picture of the bride with that specific bridesmaid or guest, or leave the frames empty for the guests to fill with a picture from the wedding. Purchase cute frames from a craft or frame store, and decorate if you wish with ribbons and lace.

Recipe Cardholder

This homemade gift is a favorite traditional activity at bridal showers: You'll provide the bride-to-be with recipes for her new household and family while involving all the friends and family. Ask each guest (or ask each family member and friend, even if they aren't going to the shower) for a recipe or two. Decorate a cardholder with embellishments or make one very elegant by covering it with velvet and lace. Include simple quick recipes and also ones for fancy dinners.
