Girls' birthday parties can be a fun, festive way to celebrate a person of honor. However, with so many details to cover, including invitation list, snacks, birthday cake, and goody bags, the task can seem overwhelming. Fortunately, there are many activities a planner can choose from that ease the process. Does this Spark an idea?
Spa Party
One fun idea for a girl's birthday is to plan an at-home spa party. Pay a visit to the local drugstore or discount store, where you can find everything from at-home facials to manicure supplies. Stock up on emory boards, nailpolish colors and nail decals, and treat the girls to manicures. Or buy some make-up, along with individual applicators, and give the girls makeovers. Your imagination is your only limitation.
Cooking Party
Why do all the work ahead of time? Engage the girls in a cooking party where they make their own cupcakes. Start the party off by baking the cupcakes, and then play games while they cool. Have a relay race where they use plastic spoons filled with cupcake sprinkles, and the object of the race is to run without spilling any sprinkles. Or take the cupcake liners and use pom poms and pipe cleaners to make flowers out of them. Then, when the cupcakes are cooled, the girls can frost them, decorate them and eat them. If desired, you can provide them all with aprons as take-home presents. Be sure to find out from the girls' parents beforehand of any allergies, and have alternatives on hand so no one feels left out.
Tea Party
Another idea for a girl's birthday is a tea party. Set out enough tables and chairs for the girls, and decorate them with pretty tablecloths and fancy "china." Many party stores offer a wide array of lovely paper plates and accessories that will set the mood for your tea party. Provide snacks such as tea sandwiches and cookies to go along with their role-playing. You might also consider having them make fun hats out of colored paper and markers beforehand to add to the festive feel, or provide dress-up clothes for them to really get into their roles.
