Curly Hair Styles For Ladies

Ask your stylist for help with your curly hair.

The two things that are absolutely necessary for curly hair are a cut by a hair stylist and consistent care with conditioners and gentle handling. Curly hair and straight hair are very different and require different care. Avoid a traditional comb on your curly hair. Instead, rely on your fingers and a good wide-toothed comb to get the results you want. Curly hair can be very curly, loosely wavy, tailored, or just flexible and fun. Does this Spark an idea?

Short Hair

Short hair, worn away from the face, gives a statement of honesty, and says you have nothing to hide. An oval face is the best for short hair, but work with your stylist about the best way for you to wear short curls. If you have a small chin, short, curly hair widens the jawline. Short hair can be all one length or layered and bouncy. Add gel after washing and conditioning and use your fingers to get the style you want. It can be parted and swept to one side of your face, giving an asymmetrical look. Consult some magazines and take a picture of what you want to your stylist.

Shoulder Length

Hair is medium length if it reaches to the shoulders but not past them. Medium length curly hair is quite glamorous and has been the cut of choice for Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron and Drew Barrymore. Curly hair, particularly if shoulder length or longer, works best in layers if the hair is thick. If you cut one-length hair to just shorter one-length hair, the hair will tend to bunch up into a tangle of unmanageable curls. Rather, do a layered cut for a bouncy, carefree look. Use bangs to camouflage a too high forehead and a side part to make a round face thinner. Sweep all the hair to one side and put a flower on the other side for a glamorous evening look. Similarly, a French twist makes for a sophisticated style.

Long Hair

Your long, curly hair can make you look gorgeous, mysterious, alluring, or sassy. It's the most versatile of the three lengths of hair. It can be pulled back from the face in a ponytail. Try a half ponytail with just a portion of the top of the hair pulled back, the bottom half hanging free. For maximum control, try a bun, which can be worn at the nape of the neck, at the crown, or anywhere in between. You can comb your long hair with your fingers into long loose curls. You can twist it around your fingers for corkscrew curls. A razor cut will leave ends with a very casual look. A feathered cut with the ends framing the face looks good on an oval face or will make a thin face seem wider. You can use a crimper for a unique look or straighten your hair for a clean, sophisticated appearance. Jennifer Aniston, Beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker all wear their long hair very successfully. And again, be sure to use a stylist and provide her with pictures to be sure she knows what you want.
