Decorations For A Hawaiianthemed Wedding Ceremony

Hibiscus flowers are versatile in wedding ceremony decor.

Bring the true feel of Aloha into your wedding décor, whether you are getting married on the islands or in your hometown during a snowfall. Incorporating Hawaiian decorations into your wedding, from the table centerpieces to your guest favors, will conjure up a romantic ambiance memorable for years to come.

Hibiscus Flowers and Fig Leaves

Found all over the Hawaiian islands, and traditional in celebrations, Hibiscus flowers and fig leaves can be used for décor all over your ceremony location. Loop tulle down the center aisle, attaching at each end seat with a bundle of hibiscus flowers, or create a garland out of hibiscus and ribbon, or fig leaves and wire for a less frilly look. Your archway can also be covered in these two popular types of foliage, and large arrangements of hibiscus can be placed on the altar, in an entry way, or flanking an outdoor archway or garden.

Leis

Mount large coat hooks on the walls of your ceremony lobby area, or place embellished coat racks at the entry point of outdoor nuptials. Hang multiple leis on these hooks, serving as decoration as guests walk in, and later as a favor for the guests as they take their seats. Create decorative signs instructing guests to take a lei, and also drape them over archways, seats, and traditions such as the unity candle or communion table.

Tiki Torches

If you're having a nighttime ceremony, nothing quite says Hawaii like an evening garden ceremony flanked by lighted tiki torches. You can also use these unlit for a daytime ceremony, or light them indoors if permission is granted by the building host. Miniature torches can also be mounted in the aisles or on top of tables if your guests are seated in the same place for the ceremony and reception.

Coconut Shell Candles

Also appropriate for an evening ceremony, line the aisles with coconut shell candles, as well as incorporating some into the area where vows will be exchanged. A large coconut candle can also be used for a unity candle, or make it a sand ceremony with a hollowed out shell instead. In lieu of flowers and rings, have the children in your wedding party carry lit coconut shell candles down the aisle and then place them on a table at the end of the procession.
