Make your own "erupting" volcano for your party.
Luau theme parties are appropriate for party guests of all ages. This theme lends itself to birthdays, anniversaries, even casual gatherings. While you can purchase decorations for a luau, you can easily make them at home as well. Does this Spark an idea?
Cardboard Volcano
Stack various sized cardboard boxes on top of one another to create the basic shape of a volcano. Cover the boxes in black paper; paint the paper black if necessary. Paint cotton batting red and orange then drape it over the top of the volcano to create lava.
Table 'Skirts'
Instead of using just tablecloths for party tables, raffia paper draped around the table serves as a grassy table skirt. To be more creative, cut through the band of a grass skirt so that it creates a curtain rather than a skirt, and affix it around the tables to create table skirts.
Flameless Tiki Torches
Tiki torches are ideal for luau parties, but not ideal for luau parties involving small children or indoor spaces. To create flameless tiki torches, use red, yellow and orange tissue paper to make fake flames in a bamboo tiki torch and place these around your party area.
