Children enjoy games that involve dancing. You can play several dancing games at school or parties. You can adjust most dancing games to fit children of any age. Just add music to traditional games and watch the kids have a great time.
Freeze Dance
Freeze Dance is an easy game for kids of any age. All you need is music. Gather the kids in a specific location. Be sure you have CD player or radio. Use music that is age-appropriate. When the music starts, the kids begin dancing. They must dance the entire time the music is playing. When you stop the music, they must freeze in the dance pose they are in. If they move any muscle, they are out. Stop the music for about 15 seconds. Continue playing and stopping the music until there is only one child left. You can give a prize to the winner.
Dancing Musical Chairs
This game will be played just like regular Musical Chairs, but the kids must add dance moves as they play. Before the game, be sure to have a few age-appropriate songs ready to play. You will need one fewer chair than the number of kids playing. Place the chairs in a circle. When the music starts, tell the kids they must dance around the circle of chairs. If they do not dance as they are moving, they are automatically out. When you stop the music, the kids must try to sit in a chair. The one child who does not have a chair is out. Remove a chair and play again. Remember, all the kids must dance as they move from chair to chair. When it's down to two kids, the first child to sit in the chair when the music stops is the winner.
Balloon Dance
You need several balloons and music for this game. Separate the kids into groups of two. Give each pair a balloon. Tell them they must dance to the music while balancing the balloon between their foreheads. If they drop or pop the balloon while the music is playing they are out. You can play different types of music to add humor to this game. Slow songs are easier to dance to with the balloon between their foreheads. Speed up the game by playing fast songs. The couple that is the last one dancing with the balloon intact wins a prize. This game will have all of the kids giggling.
