Decorating For A Campground Party

Camping is a relaxing activity to reconnect with nature and friends. People often go camping to celebrate an occasion, such as a birthday. Holding a party at a campground does not mean you cannot decorate. Decorating for a campground party can be fun, but you should be sensitive to the nature around you. Does this Spark an idea?

Preparation

Think about the nature around you as you prepare for the party. Disposable decorations such as streamers and balloons could be dangerous to wildlife if they blow away from the campground. Gather decorations from nature. Find brightly colored flowers, leaves and nonpoisonous berries. Collect long grasses and sticks. Bring brightly colored fabric and battery-operated Christmas lights. These are things that will not blow away from your campsite and can be taken with you when you leave. String or twine for securing your decorations is also important.

Considerations

Each campground has different rules such as quiet hours, the number of people allowed per campsite, etc. Make sure to review the rules and regulations before planning your decorating. Be careful not to collect any materials illegally from nature. You should never cut live trees.

Decorating

Twist the long grasses together to create a rope. Use string to wrap around the grasses, securing them together. As you are wrapping the string around the grasses, add the flowers, leaves and berries you have collected. You are creating garland that can be hung throughout the campsite. Use the colorful fabric you brought with you to hang with the garland. The battery-operated Christmas lights can be hung around the opening of the tents. Use candles for light on the tables. If there are trees around the campground, you can hang bundles of flowers from them. Use the sticks collected to create a sign on the ground for the party. For example: "Happy Birthday John," or "Congratulations!" Place brightly colored flowers around the sticks so the sign draws more attention. If you are camping in the fall when there are no flowers, use brightly colored leaves for decorations.

After the Party

After the party, it is essential to remove all the decorations you have created and leave the campground as you found it. If there is trash left over from the party, you must bring it with you and properly discard it. Even decorations you created with natural materials such as flowers and grass should be returned to nature.
